Brighton 3 - Sheffield Wednesday 0: Brighton go top
CRAIG MACKAIL-SMITH struck his fifth goal in three games as Gus Poyet’s Brighton cruised to the top of the Championship.
Mackail-Smith struck Albion’s second – sandwiched in between strikes from Wayne Bridge and Will Buckley – as Brighton eased their way past a flakey Sheffield Wednesday to move one point clear of Blackpool.
Bridge put them ahead with a deflected 24th-minute free-kick and Buckley was twice denied by Chris Kirkland as the home side dominated.
After the break, Mackail-Smith struck from close range after being teed up by Bruno Saltor, who also created Buckley’s 57th-minute third that wrapped up a third successive win for the Seagulls.
