Cesare Prandelli happy to wait on Italy
CESARE PRANDELLI says he is only interested in the final showdown with Spain and does not want to talk about his own future.
The Italy coach’s contract is not due to end until 2014, but after transforming the Azzurri’s fortunes during his two years in charge, Prandelli, right, is a man in demand. He already had an impressive reputation following five successful seasons at Fiorentina. With Italy he has done even better, helping them to shed the image of a dour, defensive team.
I’ve had my phone on and I’ve not had a call
Prandelli, 54, admits that he misses the day-to-day involvement of club coaching, but he is keen to get tomorrow’s showpiece in Kiev out of the way before he starts to think about his future.
“I’ve had my phone on and I’ve not had a call,” he said.
“I’ve said before, I have a great relationship with the Italian Football Federation and I love the shirt.”
