Fabio Capello hits out at Wayne Rooney with 'Scottish' jibe
FABIO CAPELLO has aimed a dig at Wayne Rooney’s fortunes with England by saying: “He only understands Scottish.”
Manchester United striker Rooney had suggested England’s players were happier under Roy Hodgson than his predecessor because communication with the manager was no longer a problem.
Capello hit back after Rooney’s disappointing display in England’s Euro 2012 quarter-final defeat by his native Italy, saying: “After seeing the latest game, I think Rooney only understands Scottish.
“That’s because he only plays well in Manchester, where Sir Alex Ferguson speaks Scottish.”
After a goalless clash, Italy tormentor Andrea Pirlo claimed his penalty chip past Joe Hart changed the momentum of the shoot-out and led to the penalty misses by Ashley Young and Ashley Cole that saw Italy triumph 4-2.

“It was relevant to our win,” said Pirlo. “This changed the course of the match.
“Hart seemed to be very confident and it seemed to be a psychological blow. I needed to do something to beat him. Penalties are a personal thing. For them, going to the penalty shoot-out was already a good result.”
