Wayne Rooney vows England will get it right for Euro 2012
WAYNE ROONEY arrived at Euro 2012 last night promising that England will show the desire required to avoid a repeat of his infamous four-letter outburst at the fans in Cape Town.
Roy Hodgson’s squad set up camp in Krakow in Poland, with Rooney pledging that he and his team-mates will “give their all”.
Rooney is suspended for the opening two games but vowed that the players, who are not fancied to get beyond the last eight, will make sure they cannot be accused of lacking commitment.
He was involved in controversy in 2010 when he made a verbal attack – and swore into a TV camera – against supporters who were jeering the team at the end of the goalless draw against Algeria.

It’s important it comes across that we are trying, and that we are not just turning up and not trying
The FA hope the Krakow city-centre base will ease the tension which infected Fabio Capello’s players at their remote Camp Rustenburg training centre at the last World Cup in South Africa.
Rooney, who later apologised for his behaviour, said last night: “It’s important it comes across that we are trying, and that we are not just turning up and not trying.
“If it’s not good enough, then you’ve got to hold your hands up. But we are trying to win.
“That passion is there with the players, the same as it is with the fans. We know we are expected to do better than we have done in recent years.”
