MK Dons 0 - Huddersfield 2: Jordan Rhodes a Terriers colossus yet again
SUPER striker Jordan Rhodes’ 39th goal of the season put Huddersfield one step away from Wembley.
He struck in the 32nd minute. MK Dons’ keeper David Martin made a great save to deny substitute Kallum Higginbotham, but the ball fell to Lee Novak on the left and his lofted cross was nodded home by Rhodes.
A woeful afternoon for Dons got worse in the 73rd minute as Jack Hunt sent a superb finish past Martin from the edge of the penalty area.
It’s a sucker punch but there’s a long way to go
The win puts the Terriers firmly in control of the tie ahead of Tuesday’s second leg at the Galpharm Stadium and dreaming of play-off glory in their third successive attempt. Their manager Simon Grayson beamed: “We’re obviously delighted we’ve won this game, but more importantly with the level of quality performance that we have put in.SDRq
But defiant Dons manager Karl Robinson said: “It’s a sucker punch but there’s a long way to go.”
Huddersfield skipper Peter Clarke emerged unscathed after a challenge which provided seven minutes of injury time.
