Brian Kennedy rejoins battle to save Rangers
BRIAN KENNEDY has returned to the table and made a “substantially improved” offer to take control of Rangers.
The owner of Sale Sharks had his initial bid to land the Ibrox giants turned down three weeks ago, and at that stage pulled out of the running.
Kennedy then said he could return if the Blue Knights failed in their bid, and would also consider another offer if the club was faced with liquidation rather than coming out of administration.
He made an improved verbal offer last night to administrators Duff and Phelps, who had been weighing up whether to award preferred bidder status to Bill Ng’s Singapore consortium or a US group headed by Bill Miller.
Kennedy said: “I’ve made a substantially improved offer.”
The Blue Knights, led by Paul Murray, have stepped back because one of the main creditors, Ticketus, are also in talks with Ng.
We were in talks with Mr Kennedy today and he has increased his offer. We will now give it due consideration.
Last night a spokesman for Duff and Phelps confirmed: “We were in talks with Mr Kennedy today and he has increased his offer. We will now give it due consideration.”
