Doughty leaves Forest a legacy
NIGEL DOUGHTY pumped in £23million to boost his beloved Nottingham Forest four months before his tragic death.
Former Forest owner Doughty guaranteed the cash as a farewell gift after stepping down in October.
The venture capitalist was found dead from a suspected heart attack in the gym at his home on Saturday.
He bowed to fan pressure last year and agreed to leave when manager Steve McClaren quit.
One-time Forest and England striker Garry Birtles said: “His motivation, determination and dedication could not be questioned.
“Things have not turned out as anyone would have liked. But his legacy at Forest will still linger on.”
