Nottingham Forest 0 Burnley 2: Jay Rodriguez double sinks Forest
TWO goals from Jay Rodriguez condemned Forest to their 18th defeat of the season to leave Steve Cotterill’s side struggling for survival.
Rodriguez could have had a hat-trick but for fluffing a penalty, but his two well-taken headers helped boost Burnley’s play-off challenge. He opened the scoring after just three minutes when he met Kieran Trippier’s cross.
Adlene Guediora almost hit back for Forest immediately but saw his shot saved by Lee Grant, while Ishmael Miller could have done better with a chance from a corner moments later. Burnley weathered the storm and should have increased their lead early in the second half when Ben Mee was brought down in the box by Gareth McCleary.
Rodriguez chipped the resultant penalty well wide but made amends after 64 minutes when he headed home another Trippier cross.
