FA Cup round-up: Jermaine Beckford puts Leicester in hat
JERMAINE BECKFORD was back to his old tricks last night – producing something special in the FA Cup.
Leicester striker Beckford scored a hat-trick in a 4-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest in a third-round replay.
He has now hit 12 FA Cup goals in 15 ties and the Leicester win piles the pressure on Forest boss Steve Cotterill, with the club third from bottom in the Championship.
And Beckford was praised by captain Matt Mills who said: “He was magnificent, his work-rate was fantastic.”
There were no shocks in the other replays.
After the drama of their first match, Bolton beat Macclesfield 2-0, Mark Hughes celebrated his first win as QPR manager in a 1-0 defeat of MK Dons and Millwall easily overcame Dagenham & Redbridge 5-0.
