Blackpool 0 Derby 1: Craig Bryson pounces to boost Derby
BLACKPOOL 0 -- DERBY 1: CRAIG BRYSON sent Derby to third place in the table after sentencing Blackpool to their first defeat since suffering relegation.
Bryson pounced from close range to fire into the bottom right of the net after Steven Davies’s 69th-minute free-kick was parried into his path by goalkeeper Matthew Gilks.
Blackpool can have few complaints. A third successive win would have seen them join Southampton at the summit, yet Ian Holloway’s new-look side were frustrated by the visitors in a game of few chances.
Defender Stephen Crainey went closest to breaking the deadlock in the first half when his attempt from an angle deflected behind just before half-time.
From the resulting corner, Keith Southern forced a save from goalkeeper Frank Fielding.
But that was as exciting as it got for the hosts. Victory meant Derby had recorded more wins in the first two games this season than they had managed in the last nine league games of last term.

And Jamie Ward rattled the bar for the visitors in the 61st minute, just before Bryson pounced.
