Hull City 2 - Middlesborough 4: Scott McDonald does the trick for Boro
Hull City 2 - Middlesborough 4
SCOTT McDonald won’t achieve his ambition to be the top scorer in the Championship.
But at least the Aussie striker will be taking home a signed match ball after his first hat-trick since he joined Middlesbrough.
He was prolific in Scotland for Motherwell and Celtic but since his £3.5million move he’s found it harder, admitting: “I expected to score a lot more goals.” Jay Simpson’s second-minute tap-in was the perfect start for Hull and Anthony Gerrard’s 25-yard belter a late consolation – but the middle period was X-rated for the shell-shocked Hull fans.
McDonald was gifted his first two in 79 seconds, Julio Arca added a third and the frontman had completed his easiest-ever hat-trick by the time the half-time whistle came.
