Ibrahima Konate offered new Liverpool contract and gives worrying three-word update
Ibrahima Konate has confirmed that he has been offered a chance to extend his stay at Liverpool.

Liverpool's Ibrahima Konate has confirmed that he has been offered a new contract by the club, but hinted that he is not close to signing an extension. The French international's current deal runs until the summer of 2026.
The 25-year-old joined the Reds from RB Leipzig in a £35million deal in the summer of 2021 and has since made 112 appearances for the club.
After a six-week absence due to a knee injury, Konate was immediately reinstated into Liverpool's starting XI at the beginning of the month.
He has re-established himself as Virgil van Dijk's first-choice centre-back partner under head coach Arne Slot, with the Dutchman admitting he is one of his guaranteed starters when fit.
Liverpool are currently negotiating contracts with Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah, whose deals expire at the end of the season.
However, it seems they are not the only players engaged in tough negotiations with the club. When asked about his own future, Konate admitted his talks are also not yet nearing a resolution.
"Who talked about that a few months ago?" he responded when asked for an update on his contract talks. "The club didn't say anything, I didn't say anything. It's one person who said that.

"I was not ready, I didn't know when he said that. But after, I spoke with the club. I think I am really focused on what happens now. We will see what will happen. Yes (I have been offered a deal). This is another conversation (whether I am close to signing)."
Konate has been a key player for Liverpool this season, making 22 appearances and contributing two goals and one assist. Following his media duties on Monday, he is tipped to keep his spot for Tuesday's Champions League showdown with Lille.
