Players in the final year of their existing deals will be able to sign pre-contract agreements with foreign clubs from the start of January. It means Liverpool have just 10 weeks to get things sorted before they could potentially lose three of their best players.
Some fans are convinced that Slot is desperate to have Van Dijk, Salah and Alexander-Arnold nailed down as soon as possible. In a YouTube video for Amazon Prime, the Liverpool boss was asked to pick a dream team made up of Champions League winners.

The Dutchman named Alexander-Arnold at right-back, explaining: "It's for obvious reasons, I think. He's been so special for Liverpool in all these years. He came from the academy, winning the Champions League at this club."
Slot also named Van Dijk as one of his centre-backs and said: "Virgil needs to be there. He has had a lot of impact at this club. I think when he and Alisson came in, it was the last step the team needed to make."
Salah, meanwhile, was included in Slot's dream team on the right wing. He explained: "For me, it is clear. Eight or nine years at such a high level. In the recent history of this club, he has scored so many goals. He's been really special for this club."
In the comments, a few Liverpool fans speculated that Slot picking all three players in his team was a hint that he may have already prioritised new deals for them.

"Makes clear Slot’s desire to see Mo, Trent and VVD getting new contracts then," wrote @liamhumphreys6695, with @eldio2124 adding: "Exactly, but we knew that. It’s the ownership that want to be cheap and not give them deals."
It remains to be seen if Liverpool will succeed in keeping their star trio at the club beyond the end of the current season. Alexander-Arnold continues to be linked with a move to Real Madrid, who are thought to have a long-standing interest in his signature.
Salah, meanwhile, has been tipped to make a big-money move to Saudi Arabia while Van Dijk has also been the subject of intense speculation. In the summer, he sparked concern by refusing to confirm whether his future would be at Liverpool.
Only time will tell how the situation plays out, with Liverpool just weeks away from a point where all three players will be able to sign pre-contract agreements with foreign teams.
