Liverpool 'readying cheap offer' for youngster as Arne Slot plans for life after Mo Salah
Liverpool are keen to acquire the services of at least one forward this summer.
Liverpool are reportedly preparing an offer for Midtjylland prospect Dario Osorio as they look to start their rebuild under Arne Slot.
The Reds are hoping to bolster their ranks at both ends of the pitch this summer, with the signing of a left-sided centre-back widely viewed as a priority by the higher powers at the club.
Chelsea’s Levi Colwill, Eintracht Frankfurt star Willian Pacho and Benfica’s Antonio Silva are among those linked with the Merseyside outfit, though other options are also expected to be explored.
Liverpool are also in the market for attacking reinforcements, with signing a long-term successor for Mohamed Salah also on the club’s ‘to-do list’.
Countless options have already been linked with the Reds as a result, though La Tercera report that their top target on the right wing has now been identified.
They state that Liverpool are set to table an offer worth £6.8million to £8.5m for Osorio this summer after being impressed by his progress with Midtjylland last season.
The 20-year-old has scored eight and registered two assists in his 24 appearances since joining the Danish outfit, and Liverpool therefore believe that the versatile forward is ‘ready’ to take another significant step up in his career.
An ‘important offer’ is therefore in the works, with the Reds hoping that the prospect of offering Midtjylland a significant sell-on fee will test their resolve and ensure that they can fend off interest from other top European outfits to secure Osorio’s signature.
Midtjylland sporting director Ove Pederson remained coy when quizzed on the future of the Chilean international, saying: “You will understand that we cannot comment on possible offers for our players. We cannot advance anything. Simply put, this is not the way we work. I can only tell you that Darío Osorio is a great player and has had a great season.”
Since leaving Chile to join the Superliga side, Osorio has showcased that he is capable of playing on either wing, and his versatility could prove a very attractive asset to Slot given that the ex-Feyenoord boss has often relied on his players being able to rotate into different roles over the course of 90 minutes.
Osorio’s lack of experience is unable to deter interest from the new Liverpool boss either given that he has shown during his time in the Eredivisie that he is willing to give young prospects a chance to shine on the biggest of stages.
