Manchester United supporters are hoping that their side will appoint Mauricio Pochettino as their manager if Erik ten Hag is sacked.

The Dutchman has been heavily linked with a move away from the Red Devils this summer, with Sir Jim Ratcliffe weighing up whether he would like to appoint a new manager who can be the face of the INEOS project.

However, Ten Hag ensured that he wouldn’t leave without a fight, guiding United to a sensational 2-1 win over Manchester City in the FA Cup final to ensure that his side will be competing in the Champions League next season.

The victory has led to questions being raised about whether parting ways with the ex-Ajax boss is the right decision, though there are plenty of candidates in the running to succeed Ten Hag for the higher powers at Old Trafford to ponder over.

In a poll conducted by Express Sport, United supporters are hoping that Pochettino will be appointed as their new manager if a change of the face in the dugout is decided upon, with 32% of respondents voting in favour of the 52-year-old replacing Ten Hag.

The Red Devils are long-term admirers of the Argentine and his recent sacking by Chelsea means that he is available and awaiting an approach from a new club.

Similarly, Thomas Tuchel is an option that Red Devils fans are optimistic about. After a rollercoaster of a season with Bayern Munich, the German is keen to return to the Premier League as soon as possible and 30% of supporters are hoping that the ex-Chelsea boss is in the running this summer.

Yet another manager out of work is viewed as a suitable option by United: Roberto De Zerbi. Following his departure from Brighton, 17% of respondents are hoping that the Italian will head north to the Theatre of Dreams if Ten Hag is sacked.

Kieran McKenna, who received a 13% share of votes, was also speculated to have been in the frame to return to his former side this summer after guiding Ipswich Town to back-to-back promotions, but the 38-year-old opted to put an end to speculation over his future by penning a bumper contract extension at Portman Road.

Brentford’s Thomas Frank received the final 8% of votes from respondents, with United supporters certainly favouring alternative options who would be ready to take the reins of their side immediately.
