Man Utd kit issues resolved by Adidas after Andre Onana complaints
Manchester United shot-stopper Andre Onana was reportedly left unhappy with Adidas earlier this season.
Adidas have reportedly solved Manchester United’s kit issues which prompted some players to wear replica shirts instead of player-made versions during the early stages of the season. Several stars were reportedly left unhappy with how tight their kit fitted and complaints were lodged to the manufacturer.
The Red Devils have endured a shaky start campaign so far, winning only 12 of their 23 matches in the campaign. Pressure has mounted on the shoulders of Erik ten Hag as a result, though the club’s struggles haven’t only been performance-related.
Earlier this season it was claimed that United stars were left unhappy with elements of their kits this season, specifically their home socks. The matter had been discussed between players and deemed a significant issue, prompting them to decide to wear replica versions since the second game of the season.
United summer signing Andre Onana was also left unhappy with his goalkeeping strip, with the Cameroon international feeling that his shirt was too tight. The goalkeeper also opted to wear a replica version as a result, though adjustments have now been made.
According to the Daily Mail, Adidas have made ‘light amendments’ to their kits and now their official player-issued strips. The matter was expected to be resolved by December but the issues took longer to amend than initially anticipated, with the changes only recently coming into effect.
An Adidas spokesperson said: “United wore an updated design of the home sock. This has the same material and quality they have worn throughout the season, as with all club-issued socks.”
The Red Devils will take on Aston Villa on Sunday night and it appears to be likely that player-issued kits will be worn by all players at the game.
Ten Hag’s side head into the match in good form after winning their last two matches, beating Wolves 4-3 before cruising to victory against West Ham over the weekend. Rasmus Hojlund opened the scoring on Sunday against David Moyes’ side before Alejandro Garnacho stole the show with goals either side of half-time.
The 19-year-old has scored five goals and assisted two in 21 Premier League appearances so far this season, asserting himself as Ten Hag’s first-choice option on the right wing.
