Roy Keane calls Karen Carney a 'spoilsport' after Chelsea told off in Aston Villa cup win
Roy Keane poked fun at Karen Carney's assessment of Chelsea's FA Cup win over Aston Villa.
Manchester United icon Roy Keane called out his fellow ITV pundit Karen Carney for being a "spoilsport" as she was unimpressed with Chelsea's celebrations after Enzo Fernandez's stunning free-kick against Aston Villa. The Blues won 3-1 at Villa Park to advance to the fifth round of the FA Cup and recover from back-to-back hammerings by Wolves and Liverpool.
An improved Chelsea performance was highlighted by Fernandez's free-kick that gave Emiliano Martinez little chance. He curled an effort into the top corner from 25 yards, before the midfielder and his team-mates held up Fernandez's shirt in awe of the strike.
But Carney felt that the celebrations were excessive. "As soon as he hit it we all knew in the crowd (that it was going in)," she said. "There was so much pace on it... talk about overcelebrating maybe?"
But Keane then remarked: "Don't be such a spoilsport! Enjoy it!" To which the former Arsenal and Chelsea star replied: "Says you! Says you! But it was a brilliant free-kick and a brilliant performance from him today."
Keane then agreed with host Mark Pougatch's point that it was the best performance that Chelsea had ever seen from Fernandez and his midfield partner Moises Caicedo. "Absolutely outstanding," Keane said in his assessment of the duo.
"The two of them dominated that midfield. Villa were very poor but they looked strong, they looked aggressive, their passing was short, decision-making was excellent, they looked strong and physical. The two midfielders for Chelsea were outstanding."

There had been some question marks about Fernandez's commitment to the club amid transfer links away from Stamford Bridge, but his emphatic celebration showcased just how dedicated he is to returning Chelsea back among Europe's elite.
His agent Uriel Perez vehemently rejected claims that the 23-year-old wants to leave the Blues. “The player has no intention to leave," he told Spanish outlet AS. "The club’s leaders were very clear with this project. [They said] it’s a plan that was going to cost at first because new and young players were going to arrive, but when the team matches all the pieces together, Chelsea was going to get ahead…
“Enzo’s desire is to be on the team and succeed. We haven’t met or tried to talk with any club. We know what the player's desire is. Obviously he’d like the club to be in another position, but that will be achieved with hard work.”
