Tottenham warned James Maddison may be 'p***** off' with Daniel Levy plans
Tottenham are set to complete the £40million transfer of James Maddison from Leicester.
Tottenham stars 'up for sale' as Lloris to lead clear-out
England and Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has warned Tottenham that they may anger James Maddison just as he steps through the door in north London. Spurs have reportedly reached an agreement on a £40million transfer to sign Leicester’s star man following their relegation from the Premier League.
He is set to become the club’s second signing under new boss Ange Postecoglou, having already confirmed Hugo Lloris’ successor Guglielmo Vicario in a £16m deal from Empoli. Harry Winks is set to go in the opposite direction to Maddison in a separate deal for a reported £10m fee, but Spurs have been warned by Shearer that their new star midfielder could be “p****d off” if Harry Kane were to leave the club.
“My first thought when hearing about Bayern’s [Munich] bid for Harry shot in the direction of James Maddison, who has been the subject of negotiations between Spurs and Leicester City, his present club,” Shearer wrote for The Athletic.
“If I was Maddison, once I’d got personal terms out of the way, the first thing I’d be asking of Tottenham is assurances that Kane isn’t leaving. Imagine how p****d off you’d be if you’d pictured yourself creating chances for one of the world’s best finishers and then, bang — he’s gone.”

Club chief Daniel Levy has so far resisted the temptation to part ways with Kane, despite the 29-year-old having just one year left on his contract and appears unlikely to extend his stay in north London. Manchester United had been interested in signing the England captain, but walked away from discussions after Levy insisted that Kane is not for sale.
Spurs understandably do not want to strengthen a Premier League rival by selling them a man who notched 30 league goals last season, but whether Kane could leave for a team abroad remains to be seen. Levy unlikely would want to lose Kane for free rather than receive a fee around £80m and Bayern Munich are keen on signing him.

CBS Sports have claimed that the Bundesliga side have lodged a second bid of £80m all-in, after having an opening offer turned down. Kane has been a long-term target for Thomas Tuchel’s outfit and he has also agreed personal terms ahead of a potential move.
It remains to be seen whether Bayern and Spurs can reach an agreement for Kane, but Maddison especially will be hoping that he can play alongside his England skipper.
A front four consisting of the Three Lions duo with Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski would be an attractive proposition under Postecoglou, if Spurs can keep hold of their star man even though it may require a financial hit of £80m.
