Tottenham target Vincent Kompany told why he must reject Spurs as Daniel Levy 'blown away'
Tottenham have been linked with appointing Burnley boss Vincent Kompany as their next manager.
Vincent Kompany has been told he must reject the Tottenham job if Daniel Levy comes calling. Reports claim the Belgian is a top target for Spurs but Gabriel Agbonlahor does not think it would be a wise step in his managerial career.
Kompany has grabbed headlines after comfortably leading Burnley back to the Premier League in his first season in charge. He only took over at the Clarets last summer after two years at the helm of Anderlecht.
Burnley are 14 points clear at the top of the second tier and look set to end the season as champions. Agbonlahor can see why Tottenham are interested in the former Manchester City captain.
However, he believes the 37-year-old is better off staying at Burnley and trying to establish the club back in the Premier League. Agbonlahor says Tottenham are not in the right position for Kompany to be taking over.
He said on talkSPORT: "I can see why they’re looking at Kompany, but if I was Kompany I would say no. Capital letters, NO.

"He’s got Burnley into the Premier League, give it a go with Burnley and even if he didn’t keep Burnley up, what he's done with them in the Championship is still going to attract Premier League jobs.
"The way Spurs are at the moment as a club, why would you touch that? Why would you leave Burnley? He could, in the summer, bring in the right players and have a good go with Burnley and shock the Premier League.
"You know like Sheffield United did, Leeds did? He could do that with Burnley."
The Sun claims Tottenham chairman Levy has been 'blown away' by Kompany as he searches for a new boss. But Kompany refused to comment on speculation when asked on Thursday.

"I know the question, but what can I say? I'm not happy? We are 14 points clear at the top of the Championship.
"I don't waste answers on my future. I said that from day one at Burnley, in anticipation that one day there would be questions like this. [I will] crack on. I'm focusing on Reading and the next games.
