'El Partidazo de COPE' have apologised to Spain manager Luis Enrique for distastefully manipulating audio to make it sound like he called one of the female viewers of his stream 'horny' earlier this week. Enrique is streaming on Twitch during the 2022 World Cup to stay in contact with fans but has been unfairly misquoted ahead of Thursday's Group E finale against Japan.
On a stream earlier this week, team psychologist Joaquin Valdes joined Enrique, and a supporter asked for advice on how to remain calm during the World Cup. Valdes responded: "Maria, listen to my voice. Relax. Breathe slowly. And release it slowly. Very good, Maria. I think now she's better, no?"
Enrique found something amusing as he was reading the stream's chat during the psychologist's advice before saying a comment out loud. "Laurita Fitness says that Maria has become horny, for sure," the Spain boss read. To which Valdes replied: "It was not my intention."
However, 'El Partidazo de COPE' host Juanma Castano has admitted that the show manipulated the audio to make it sound like Enrique had said the strange comment himself.

"I have to talk about a matter that has been in the news today and for which we have to apologise," Castano explained. "Last night, we broadcast edited audio.
We should be sorry to say that it was a manipulated audio because it completely changed the meaning of the phrase and the message it contained. I wanted to transfer that audio from Luis Enrique.
"What that audio that we broadcast came to say was a phrase that put into Luis Enrique's mouth a phrase that a viewer of Luis Enrique's Twitch channel had said in the chat.
What we implied with the montage is that that phrase, which was a joke that put into context, could be nice... but taken out of context, it could be an almost rude and unpleasant joke, and that Luis Enrique did not say at any time."

And he issued a sincere apology to the show's listeners and Enrique for the immoral broadcast. He said: "I apologise, first, to Luis Enrique, whom I asked this morning. Second to the listeners of COPE, because they heard audio that did not conform to the truth... and last night in this, we did not tell the truth.
"And third to our peers who were on the show... who may have snapped at what they just heard. We deserve what has happened to us. We don't have anything to hold on to, and I don't want it to happen again."
