Man Utd warning sent to Everton as Lampard told Ten Hag will have been 'kicking their a**'
Manchester United travel to Everton in their first league game since defeat to Manchester City.
Erik ten Hag previews Everton clash
Everton have been warned that Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag will be expecting a reaction from his squad after “kicking their a**” following their 6-3 defeat to local rivals Manchester City last weekend. The Red Devils’ winning run in the Premier League came to an end at the Etihad Stadium as the Dutch boss saw his side concede six times, and they will be hoping to bounce back against Frank Lampard’s team.
The Toffees themselves have been in impressive form, and are unbeaten in just under two months but they have been sent a warning by former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson. “Everton had a good result at Southampton but we know what happened with Manchester United against City and Erik ten Hag will have been kicking their a** all week,” Lawrenson told Paddy Power. “I think this will be hectic and the great thing with Everton is that they’ll give anyone a game at home. It’s a tough place to go but I’ll go with Man United.”
Ten Hag has claimed that his side can match their rivals City after their drubbing at the Etihad, but reiterated that they will need time in order to be challenging at the very top of the table. “It’s quite clear, Man City are the standard, but we can deliver that,” Ten Hag said.
“We have seen it [with wins] against Liverpool, we have seen it against Arsenal, but now we have to do it on a consistent basis. And that is what we have to work for, but it will not come overnight. It will take more than weeks. It will take months.

“It’s like a routine, a way of life. You have to bring it every training, in your system, as a squad, as an individual player. And then you have a lack of it in the last years. It’s not something you build in a week or a month. No, it has to be in the system. But it’s a demand nowadays in top football.”
Ten Hag has a selection dilemma ahead of the trip to Merseyside, as Anthony Martial came off the bench in the Europa League win over Omonia on Thursday to score while Marcus Rashford also came on to bag a brace in Cyprus.

There have also been calls to bring £70million signing Casemiro into the team, and former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood has questioned why Ten Hag brought the Brazilian midfielder to Old Trafford.
“Why has he bought Casemiro to the club?” Sherwood told Sky Sports. “He is fully fit, give him an opportunity to play. Get him on the pitch as soon as you can.
