Today, Chelsea Football Club dramatically sacked their Champions League-winning coach Thomas Tuchel, following a testing set of results this season. The German was well-liked among supporters, but in recent weeks and months had suffered with a series of bad results, including last night's Champions League loss to European minnows Dinamo Zagreb. Reports from inside the club say Chelsea's new owners, led by American Todd Boehly, had struggled in recent weeks to strike up a decent working relationship, with some claiming Tuchel's sacking was expected to come regardless of Tuesday's result.

Among the early frontrunners to replace Tuchel include Brighton and Hove Albion manager Graham Potter, and ex-Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Another name that has been linked with the West Londoners is French icon Zinedine Zidane.
Zidane, who in his prime as a professional footballer was among the greatest players to play the game, famously won the Champions League three times in a row with Real Madrid during his first spell at the Spanish giants.
A second spell in charge of the side also heralded another league title, but when he initially quit the club, his decision sparked huge sadness across Madrid.

During a press conference five days after winning that landmark European title, Zidane argued it was time for his side to have a "different voice".
According to the BBC, Zidane explained how "everything changes" in football, and that was why he "took this decision".
He said: "I love this club.
"What I think is that this team needs to continue winning but I think it needs a change, a different voice, another methodology.

"This is the right moment for all involved - for me, for the squad, for the club."
Zidane performed a similar job when appointed mid-season at Real Madrid as when Tuchel arrived in January 2021 at Chelsea.
Both sides were struggling in the league and in cup competitions, but remarkably both managers claimed the elusive European title sides crave.
Zidane's first spell in charge, which ran between 2016 and 2018, saw his side claim nine trophies, as well as an overall win rating of 69.8 percent.

In the February before he quit, the World Cup winner did admit he would leave Madrid if he had "nothing more to give".
But, despite a dip in form, Real Madrid still secured a Champions League win, beating Liverpool 3-1 in the final.
It meant he became the third person to win three European Cup trophies as a manager, after Bob Paisley and Carlo Ancelotti.
He added: "I had to do this for everyone."
At the press conference, Zidane was joined by Real Madrid's club president Florentino Perez, who concluded: "This was a totally unexpected decision. Zidane informed me of his choice yesterday.

"This is a sad day for me, for the players and for everyone involved with the club. He knows that I wanted to sign him more than anyone as a player, as well as a coach.
"I would love for him to be by my side forever."
More recently, Zidane has stayed out of the spotlight as he waits for his next job in football, which many say could be with the French national side or Paris-Saint Germain.
Reports from Sky Sports this afternoon have placed Potter, the Englishman leading Brighton, as the early favourite to succeed Tuchel, with the manager meeting the board today.
