Blatter: Terry 'could have been applauded"
JOHN Terry would have been applauded in some countries rather than sacked as national team captain for having an alleged affair, according to FIFA president Sepp Blatter.
He said: “This is a special approach in the Anglo-Saxon countries. If this had happened in Latin countries, then I think he would have been applauded.”
Blatter has also claimed there is a disrespectful prejudice against South Africa hosting the World Cup. He said: “It’s a nonsense to combine what has happened in Angola – a terrorist attack for political reasons – and mix it up with the World Cup in South Africa."
“It’s a kind of anti-Africa prejudice and a feeling that, ‘Why the hell should Africa organise a World Cup’.”
