Rangnick impressed by how Varane has settled at Man Utd
Manchester United hero Louis Saha has suggested that the departures of Donny van de Beek and Anthony Martial have come as a bonus to the Red Devils as there will now be much less scrutiny on the players who aren’t able to force their way into Ralf Rangnick’s starting line-up. The two players departed Old Trafford in January, with Van de Beek joining Everton on loan and Martial moving to Sevilla for a temporary spell.
The Red Devils shelled out a staggering £40million to sign Van de Beek from Ajax in September 2020.
The midfielder was tipped to become a star player in England – but his career in the Premier League never took off at Old Trafford.
Van de Beek was a bit-part player last season but was expected to kick on this time around.
But former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer barely played the 24-year-old this campaign before he was given his marching orders.
And the Netherlands international clearly didn’t make an impression under interim manager Ralf Rangnick either as the German sanctioned his move to Goodison Park.

With United stumping up such a big amount of cash to land the player, he became a huge talking point at Old Trafford due to his lack of game time.
Pundits and fans were constantly discussing his exclusion and that negative attention clearly wasn’t helpful to United on the pitch.
Martial, meanwhile, fell down the pecking order in the north west following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo last summer. The France international was previously a regular in the United line-up.
But he struggled to have a meaningful impact for the 13-times Premier League champions during the first half of the campaign and was clearly surplus to requirements.
