Press conference with Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel ahead of his side's Premier League match against Manchester United
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has apparently given his approval for the Blues to sign Federico Chiesa. The Juventus forward is thought to be the Blues’ number one target after the Premier League leaders reportedly tried to take him to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
Chiesa moved to Turin in 2020 on an initial two-year loan deal and has been expected to make his transfer permanent at the end of this season.
Juventus will need to shell out a total of £54million to sign the forward permanently – but Chelsea want to take him to England instead.
Blues fans got the chance to see Chiesa in the flesh on Tuesday night as he started in a front two as Juventus were thrashed 4-0 at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League.
The 24-year-old endured a tough night in the capital, but scored the only goal of the game when Juve defeated Chelsea at the Allianz Stadium back in September.
Having watched Chiesa closely during the two games between Chelsea and Juventus this season, Tuchel has now given the green light for club chiefs to make a move for him.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the west Londoners have already tabled an £84million offer for Chiesa, who has the versatility to line-up anywhere in the Blues attack if he were to make the move to the Premier League.
Timo Werner has flattered to deceive in England, while Christian Pulisic has suffered a string of injury problems, so Tuchel will be hoping Chiesa can give the Blues the extra firepower they are looking for if he can be persuaded to swap Serie A for the Premier League.
The talented forward is quick and skilful and certainly appears to possess the qualities needed to excel in the Premier League.
Chiesa is apparently not in complete harmony with his Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri, who asks the player to drop deeper than he would like.
