Newcastle look set to appoint Eddie Howe as their new boss after parting ways with Steve Bruce last month. Howe is big favourite to land the top job at St James’ Park as the Magpies look to turn their season around and avoid relegation.

Newcastle are second bottom of the Premier League table after failing to win any of their first 10 games of the campaign.
Bruce left the club over two weeks ago and the new owners have been dithering as they attempt to bring in a new manager.
The team have already been cut six points adrift of safety and are in danger of giving themselves too much to do if they don’t appoint a new boss soon.
If Howe does take the reins at St James’ Park, he will be expected to pick up points fast to get his side moving in the right direction.
And one man who believes the former Bournemouth manager will do a stellar job in the north east is David Moyes.

When the former defender took over at the Vitality Stadium at the end of 2008, Bournemouth were a League Two club and looked certain to drop out of the Football League altogether.
Howe overcame a 17-point deficit in his first campaign to keep Bournemouth in League Two before leading them to promotion to League One in 2010.
He was headhunted by then Championship-side Burnley in 2011, before returning to Dorset less than two years later.
During his second spell with the Cherries, Howe gained promotion to the Championship, before taking the club to the Premier League for the first time in their history.

The 43-year-old kept Bournemouth in the top-flight for four seasons before they were relegated in 2020.
Howe left the club following their relegation and has been out of work ever since but looks likely to return to management in the north east.
Unai Emery appeared to be the Magpies’ preferred option for the top job but reportedly turned down a move to the club earlier this week.
Meanwhile, Roberto Martinez, Paulo Fonseca and Lucien Favre have also been linked to the role in recent days.
