Harry Kane makes Daniel Levy transfer demand to break Tottenham's business mould
Harry Kane will want Daniel Levy to make him a rare exception if he's to sign a new Tottenham Hotspur contract.
Nuno gives his verdict after Tottenham beaten by Palace
Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy will have to go against his strict business mould to tie Harry Kane down to a new deal. Levy rarely includes release clauses in contracts but may have to on this occasion if he's to keep Kane in north London beyond 2024.
Toby Alderweireld is the only recent case where a Tottenham player has had a release clause inserted into their contract.
When Spurs extended his deal by a further year in 2018, it triggered a £25million release clause, which no suitors triggered before its 2019 expiry.
Kane will want to also be a notable exception, given his status for club and country and clear desire to leave for a new challenge.
After Levy blocked a £150m move to Manchester City in the summer, Kane will want to widen the pathway to a potential exit.

The Daily Mail report Kane's representatives will demand that Levy goes against his business model to include a release clause in any new contract offer.
After signing a ludicrous six-year deal in 2018, Kane won't want to hand Levy more years of controlling his career, especially as he approaches the age of 30.
After missing out on a blockbuster move in the summer, the England captain won't want a repeat at the end of the season.
Whether Levy will willingly include a release clause in Kane's new contract remains to be seen, but it appears to be a mandatory request.

At the end of August, Kane confirmed he would stay at Tottenham and that his entire focus was on helping the club enjoy a successful 2021/22 season.
He wrote: "It was incredible to see the reception from the Spurs fans [at Wolves] on Sunday and to read some of the messages of support I've had in the last few weeks.
"I will be staying at Tottenham this summer and will be 100 per cent focused on helping the team achieve success."
But another campaign of underachievement by Spurs could prompt him to push for an exit again next summer.

With Erling Haaland set to be available for £64m in 2022, whether Man City return for Kane's services is up in the air.
Haaland is also Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's primary striker target, with Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial tipped to leave Manchester United within the next 12 months.
But if the Norwegian striker goes elsewhere - Real Madrid, for example - there could be a battle between the Manchester clubs to lure Kane away from Spurs.
Levy's hefty valuation may have slightly dropped by next summer, making Kane's departure a more realistic possibility.
If he signs a new deal with a release clause included before then, the chances of a 2022 exit will only increase.
