Mikel Arteta may have to recruit a replacement for Aubameyang, with Barcelona eyeing a move for the attacker.
Arteta apologises to Arsenal fans after defeat at Brentford
Barcelona are reportedly eyeing a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, leading Arsenal to now look for potential replacements. Aubameyang was handed a bumper contract last year, but failed to live up to his new mega-wages, with the Gunners reportedly ready to cut their losses.
Despite their financial issues La Liga giants Barca are understood to be exploring a move for the attacker.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta has been keen to upgrade his options up front after his side struggled for goals last term.
Any sale of Aubameyang would certainly be a welcome boost to Arteta’s transfer warchest, with the Spaniard having already spent more than £70m already this window.
With the 32-year-old edging closer to a departure from the Emirates Stadium, Arteta will now be eyeing possible replacements.
Here, Daily Express Sport looks at four players who could fill the gap that Aubameyang would leave in the Gunners’ squad…

Jonathan David
Jonathan David would bring much-needed title-winning experience to Arsenal, having scored 13 goals as Lille won Ligue 1 last season.
He previously spent two years with Gent in the Belgian top-flight, scoring 30 goals in 60 league appearances for De Buffalo's.
The 21-year-old would also be relatively cheap, with Lille having been hit with a challenging financial situation.
Odsonne Edouard
Another player would bring title-winning pedigree to the Emirates Stadium is Odsonne Edouard, who counts three Scottish Premierships among his trophy count.

Edouard has an impressive record for the Scottish giants, having scored 55 goals in the three seasons before the current campaign.
Arsenal can also capitalise on his contract situation, with the Frenchman having entered the final year of his deal at Celtic Park.
Luka Jovic
If Arteta wants to have a different option to call on to lead the line, the Gunners boss could launch a move for Real Madrid outcast Luka Jovic.
The Serbian striker has struggled at the Bernabeu, but did impress at Eintracht Frankfurt, where he scored 25 goals in the Bundesliga.

Los Blancos are attempting to offload the striker as they battle financial problems, with Jovic ready to leave the Spanish capital.
Dries Mertens
Though he is currently sidelined with a shoulder injury, Dries Mertens has been one of the stars of Serie A during his time with Napoli.
His goalscoring record in recent seasons may be less impressive than some of the other names on this list, but Mertens would bring the versatility of being able to play across the forward line.
The Belgian’s contract expires at the end of this season and he would add leadership to a young Gunners squad.
