Man Utd: The first six fixtures of the new Premier League season
Manchester United have left Real Madrid reeling by promising to double Raphael Varane’s current wage packet, according to reports in Spain. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hellbent on bringing the France international to Old Trafford. And all signs point to a deal being struck.
Adidas and Manchester United have launched their official 2021/22 home jersey, putting a modern twist on their classic club styles.
Manchester United have already brought Jadon Sancho and Tom Heaton to the club, with the Red Devils preparing an official announcement for the former.
And, now, they’ve got their sights fixed firmly on Varane.
The France international has won the lot during his time at Real Madrid and is eager to leave, earmarking the Premier League as his preferred next destination.
Though United have been wary of being used for a new contract, El Confidencial now claim that isn’t the case.
It’s said that the Red Devils have blown Real Madrid out of the water by promising to double Varane’s current pay packet in an attempt to secure a deal.
The 28-year-old currently nets around £170,000-a-week over in Spain.

While the prospect of David Alaba and Varane being Los Blancos’ partnership sounds good, they’re eager to raise as much money as possible.
And that’s mostly due to Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe.
The Paris Saint-Germain star is the club’s top transfer target, four years after he initially rejected a move to Spain in favour of staying in France.
Furthermore, the report states that Real won’t try and replace Varane with the likes of Jules Kounde or Pau Torres.
And it appears they’re willing to go with what they’ve got for the current campaign, with Carlo Ancelotti currently happy with the players he has at his disposal.

Speaking on the Football Terrace podcast recently, Eurosport’s Dean Jones claimed United were growing in confidence a deal for Varane could be done.
However, he also said there were still concerns within the Red Devils that a deal could collapse.
“Manchester United can see the finish line on this deal,” Jones said.
“And that’s the place they’ve dreamed of being in recent weeks.
“They honestly were never sure it would go this far. And I spoke to someone over the weekend and I could really tell that the optimism, and the hope, were really there.
“This week was always going to be a big week because it’s a telling time for Madrid to get involved in this.

“And United, obviously, know the player is keen at this point. They finally believe the player was serious about coming to United.
“And now Real Madrid have been informed that is the case. Obviously, now, it’s all about a fee.
“United do not want to go over £50m so I’m a bit sceptical about this being done in the next few hours because that’s a lot of negotiating to be done.
“But things are definitely heading in the right direction and Varane does expect to become a United player. And that’s a big indication of how far the deal has gone at this point.
“Obviously, United are concerned this won’t happen. They’re not done yet. This is not a done deal.
