Man City: The first six fixtures of the 2021/22 Premier League
Ex-Manchester City forward LukasNmecha has claimed Pep Guardiola’s side will be signing “another top striker” this summer, hence his decision to leave the club.
Yet another forward in front of him in the pecking order would have undoubtedly stalled his progression and development.
As a result, Nmecha left the Etihad in favour of a move to Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg, having enjoyed a successful loan spell last term at Belgian side Anderlecht.
Under the guidance of Man City legend Vincent Kompany, Nmecha found some of his best form to date, so much so that Anderlecht were desperate to keep him tied to the club on a permanent basis.
However, the 22-year-old was not keen on the idea, neither were then-parent club City.
His future appeared uncertain this summer, with Guardiola unsure on if he viewed Nmecha as a worthy talent to keep around for the future, but he was eventually released by the club.

Having struggled to make his mark on the senior side, Nmecha enjoyed four separate loan spells during his time as a City player, one of which coming at current side Wolfsburg.
The striker has now had his say on his departure and given his reasons as to why he is no longer a City player.
“I had one year left on my contract,” he told Kicker when asked about the move.
“They’re bringing in another top striker; I don’t think my chance would have been very big there.”
Who that top striker is exactly, remains unclear, with a number of superstars linked to the Etihad.

Club legend Sergio Aguero called time on his City career after ten years at the end of last season in favour of a move to La Liga giants Barcelona.
In turn, there is now a vacancy for the role of City’s leading marksman.
Both Tottenham star Harry Kane and Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland have been touted with mega-money moves to City, though Guardiola has played down the idea of transfer market activity.
"At the prices quoted we are not going to buy any strikers. It is impossible, we cannot afford it," Guardiola told Catalan network TV3.
"All clubs are strugglingfinancially,we are not an exception. We have Gabriel (Jesus) and Ferran (Torres) who have been incredible in this position.
"We'll do whatever we can do in the transfer window and if we can't, we'll still have the squad that has won the league three times in four years and reached the Champions League final."
