Arsenal: Mikel Arteta addresses Houssem Aouar transfer rumours
Arsenal are interested in snapping up Houssem Aouar from Lyon, reports state. The France international was eyed by Mikel Arteta 12 months ago, only for the Gunners to recruit Thomas Partey instead. However, they’re hopeful they can now succeed at the second time of asking when it comes to bringing the playmaker to the Emirates Stadium.
Arsenal are determined to make a statement this summer.
And with the club still seeking a long-term replacement for Mesut Ozil, who joined Fenerbahce in January, Aouar is back on their radar.
Reports in France stated the Gunners had bid for the Lyon star on Tuesday evening, 12 months after they’d first tried to bring him to the Emirates Stadium.
And, now, ESPN say Arsenal are firming up their interest.
It’s claimed the north London giants will need to offload at least one midfielder first, however, before bringing him to north London.
Matteo Guendouzi has already been loaned to Ligue 1 side Marseille, with the talented Frenchman not in Arteta’s plans for the long term.

Grant Xhaka is in talks with Roma about a move, with Jose Mourinho determined to bring him to the Stadio Olympico as he looks to win the Scudetto in his first season.
And Arsenal are said to be offers for Lucas Torreira, while there’s uncertainty over the futures of Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Joe Willock following their loan spells at West Brom and Newcastle.
Aouar, for his part, is said to be open to a move to the Premier League.
And he won’t rule out a move to Arsenal, despite originally hoping La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid would come in for him.
And Lyon have changed their asking price, now wanting a fee in the region of £22million instead of the £32m they were demanding 12 months ago.
