Man Utd: Solskjaer delivers devastating Maguire fitness updaye
Bruno Fernandes recently joined a select club that includes some of the biggest names in Manchester United’s history as he collected the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for the second season running.
The feat means he joins Roy Keane, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo in being one of the few to win the fan-voted for gong twice.
Joining United in early 2020, Fernandes has undoubtedly been one of the club’s shining lights in what has been a difficult period in the post-Sir Alex era.
Having managed the club for 26 years, Ferguson stepped down from his role in the United dug-out in 2013, but has now had his say on Fernandes and what he brings to Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s side.

Speaking to BBC Radio Manchester on the red carpet of his new documentary film ‘Sir Alex Ferguson: Never Give In’, the Old Trafford icon said: “Well, he’s been fantastic the lad, he’s scored important goals and even when he’s taking his penalty kicks, he’s very, very confident about them and I can’t even think if a goalkeeper’s got anywhere near his penalty kicks.
“So he’s calm, his shots from outside the box are always a threat, and he’s got the thing that United have really needed in the last few years with his ability to make a pass in the final third.
“It opens up defences and I think that’s important.”

The comments will come as music to the ears of Fernandes, who recently claimed he would have loved to have sat down and asked Ferguson what his views were on his game and where the Portuguese international could improve.
In a Q&A with some members of the United faithful, Fernandes revealed: “I met him already but never had the chance to speak with him like I would like to do.
“I think everyone who watched Manchester United in the past remembers Sir Alex. [That is true] for me, growing up and seeing the club, being a fan of the club and seeing the development of the team.
“I would like to have a conversation with him and understand, from his point of view, what he thinks about me and what I can improve or still improve in my game to be better.”
Fernandes has enjoyed a remarkable first full season in a United shirt, becoming the first player since Robin van Persie in Ferguson’s final season to reach 30 Premier League goal contributions, coming in the form of 18 goals and 12 assists.
He will be hoping to lift his first trophy as a United player later this month, when Solksjaer's team travel to Gdansk to take on Villarreal in the Europa League final.
