Sir Alex Ferguson: No deal for Adem Ljajic
SIR Alex Ferguson has pulled the plug on Manchester United’s proposed £10 million deal for Serbian wonderboy Adem Ljajic.
On the day United handed a new four-year contract to striker Federico Macheda, 18, they confirmed they will not buy attacking midfielder Ljajic – dubbed the ‘new Kaka’ – from Partizan Belgrade.
United set up a £15m joint transfer for Ljaijc and midfielder Zoran Tosic last January. Tosic, 21, was signed immediately for £5m but Ljajic was left with Partizan for another year until he was 18 and old enough to apply for a work permit. But after watching him in extensive trials at Old Trafford, as well as in games for his club and country, Ferguson has decided Ljajic is no better than the youngsters he already has coming through United’s youth scheme.
