Liverpool: Experts discuss the signing of Thiago Alcantara
Thiago Alcantara has targeted the end of the year for a return to training with Liverpool after providing an injury update. The summer signing from Bayern Munich has said he is taking things ‘step by step’ as he works his way back to fitness.
Having joined the Premier League champions for £25million in the summer, the Spanish international has made just two appearances for the club so far.
Following an impressive debut in the 2-0 win over Chelsea, Thiago played 90 minutes in the Merseyside derby draw but suffered a knee injury that has kept him out of action since.
This week, Liverpool took to social media to post a video of the midfielder going through some exercise drills at the club’s new AXA Training Centre in Kirby.
The accompanying caption read: “Working his way back towards full fitness”, hinting at a possible return for the player sooner rather than later.

“Now we think we are in a right mood and looking forward to the end of the year to try to train another time with the team.”
When asked about Thiago in his pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Crystal Palace, Jurgen Klopp refused to rule out the possibility of the player resuming training as soon as next week.
“We will not rush it but it's nice to have him on the pitch,” he said.
“He's not in team training yet, that's the final step.
