Man Utd boss Solskjaer snubbed Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes with touchline demand
Manchester United put on a real show in the Champions League last night as they thrashed RB Leipzig 5-0 at Old Trafford.
Manchester United caught the eye last night with an emphatic demolition job on RB Leipzig. The Bundesliga leaders travelled to Old Trafford looking to upset the apple cart but Julian Nagelsmann's side were embarrassed by the Red Devils, who ran out 5-0 winners.
Marcus Rashford came off the bench to hit a memorable treble while fellow forwards Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial were also on the scoresheet in a perfect night for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The England international was lavished in praise for his performance, following his recent heroics off the field in the fight to end child food poverty.
He also received recognition for his generosity during the contest, after gifting strike partner Martial the chance to take the penalty that could have sealed his hat-trick.
However, it now appears the decision was made by United boss Solskjaer.
JUST IN: Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already has new captain in mind
According to the Manchester Evening News, the Norwegian shouted from the touchline to Rashford and normal penalty taker Bruno Fernandes that he wanted Martial on the spot-kick.
Martial won the penalty after being chopped down by RB Leipzig substitute Marcel Sabitzer.
The Frenchman made no mistake from the spot to put United four goals to the good.
On a night where everything seemed to pay off for United, Rashford still got the chance to complete his hat-trick late on to cap a memorable evening.

After the game, Solskjaer highlighted just how impressed he was by the nature of his team's performance.
"Marcus Rashford came on and did well but the groundwork was there from the team," he said.
"That's what you want that from the subs. What a shift they put in. Leipzig are a high press, the intensity, so we had to dig deep.
"We had to rest a few because the season is relentless, so we used the squad.
"This group is coming together. The more quality and spirit you have the more you get the performance."
United now sit top of Group H having dispatched Paris Saint-Germain and Leipzig in their opening two matches.
Solskjaer's side now host Arsenal on Sunday at Old Trafford in Premier League action before a trip to Istanbul Basaksehir next Wednesday.
The response since United's 6-1 defeat to Tottenham has been almost faultless besides the 0-0 draw against Chelsea, in what has been a difficult run of fixtures for Solskjaer and his players.
