Man Utd issued transfer warning by club hero Gary Neville in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claim
Manchester United officials have been warned they need to support Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the transfer market.
Premier League: Man United vs Tottenham match preview
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer cannot be expected to win the Premier League title unless the board backs him in the transfer market. That’s the opinion of club hero Gary Neville, who believes United need to make at least three signings before they can start to compete again.
United are closing in on their second signing of the summer, with Edinson Cavani set to fly to Manchester today for his medical.
The club have failed so far in their attempts to sign either Jadon Sancho or Alex Telles, and are running out of time to change their fortunes in the market.
United made a poor start to the Premier League season by losing their opening game to Crystal Palace 3-1 at home, while they followed that up with a last-minute win over Brighton.
Reigning champions Liverpool, however, made a fast start to the campaign, winning their opening three games in style.

And Neville believes United will be unable to mount a proper challenge until they start to invest properly in the window.
Speaking to Cadbury, the club hero warned fans that the team needs significant improvement, and that they won’t be able to challenge Liverpool unless at least three more players sign this summer.
“Ole has a period where he can win the league,” Neville said.
"He has been there one-and-a-half seasons and this is the third he is starting now.

Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told to improve one position by club hero Gary Neville
“He won't be expected to win the league this season but maybe next season, in his fourth, he would be expected to.
"But he can't win the league, it is impossible to win the league against this Liverpool team this year – unless you sign three or four players to take the team towards it.
“You are essentially tying a manager's hands behind his back if you're not giving him the players he needs to win the league, and yet you’re setting the target of winning the league.”
Solskjaer has always remained coy over the club’s transfer dealings, and has often refused to talk about the club’s plans.

But last week, he dropped a subtle hint that he was frustrated with the lack of activity, saying of the board “they know my feelings”.
And Neville believes that the closest the boss will come to expressing his frustration with the club.
He added of Solskjaer’s quotes: “I thought it was significant.
“If Ole, who is a club man, loves the club, would never go rogue, says the club knows his view. That’s as near to going rogue as you can get.
“He’s not going rogue, he’s just saying the club knows his view. I took that as being quite important words.”
