Gareth Bale: Tottenham Hotspur announce the return of star
Gareth Bale's agent has revealed that there is a possibility that the Real Madrid star will not return to Spain and remain at Tottenham past the end of this season. The Welshman has returned to Spurs on a one-year loan deal after enduring a nightmare spell at the Bernabeu in recent months.
Bale could be set to stay at Tottenham after completing a one-year loan deal with his former club.
The Welsh international was left seeking a new club for this season after injuries and being frozen out somewhat by Zinedine Zidane left him on the periphery at Real Madrid.
Fans can’t wait to watch him back in Premier League action once he overcomes a knee injury.
But his return might not be as short lived as first feared, with his agent revealing that there is a very real possibility Bale could sign permanently for Spurs.
Jonathan Barnett told BBC Sport: "I am sure that if things really worked out well, we'd have no problem.
“This is the club he wants to play at. I don't see any problems if he wants another year.”
Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho was dealt a blow when Bale underwent his medical recently, and it remains to be seen when he will be ready to make his second debut in north London.
Bale is still suffering with a knee injury sustained on international duty, and is facing around month on the sidelines to recover.
Spurs were aware of Bale's injury prior to signing him on a season-long loan in a deal worth £20million last week, but went ahead with the pursuit anyway.
And after a closer assessment, Mourinho admits the club is no closer to knowing when the 31-year-old will be ready to play.
"I don't know when Gareth can be back," said Mourinho. "The only thing that I know is that the motivation is high, he is so happy to be with a club of his heart.
"When a player has this motivation, many, many times you can shorten the period of recovering and getting fit."
While Bale added of his return: "It's nice to be back. This is such a special club to me. It's where I made my name. What an amazing club, amazing fans, and it's just incredible to be back.
"Hopefully now I can get some match fitness, help the team and win trophies.
"I always thought when I did leave that one day I would love to come back, and the opportunity has now arisen. I feel like it's a good fit, it's a good time for me, I'm hungry, I'm motivated, I want to do well and can't wait to get started."
