Man Utd have key ‘question mark’ over Jadon Sancho transfer alternative as loan eyed
Manchester United are determined to sign Jadon Sancho, but have alternatives in mind.
Man Utd: Dembele and Costa transfers assessed by pundits
Manchester United are concerned about Douglas Costa’s injury history, and are looking at the possibility of making a loan bid with an option to buy. That’s according to European football expert Aurelio Capaldi.
Juventus ace Costa has emerged as one of United’s back-up targets if they are unable to sign Jadon Sancho.
Borussia Dortmund are holding firm on their £108million valuation of the English winger, and United are currently unwilling to meet those demands.
Instead, they want to pay in installments, but the Bundesliga giants are unwilling to meet those demands.
The impasse in negotiations has left United in a difficult situation, and they are now said to be looking at alternative targets, with Costa at the top of the list.
The Juventus winger has been tipped to leave Turin this summer, with Andrea Pirlo claimed to have deemed him surplus to requirements.
However, his injury history is apparently putting off potential suitors, as he missed 21 games through different injuries this season.
The season before that, he missed 25 games, and United are now reportedly considering altering their approach in negotiations.
Speaking to the Transfer Window Podcast, Capaldi revealed that the Red Devils could be tempted to make a loan bid for the 29-year-old Brazilian.

“I think it’s a possibility,” he said of United making a bid.
“The quality of Douglas Costa is high, his dribbling is fantastic.
“His only question mark is about the physical conditions. Injuries are frequent with him.
“That’s the only question mark over him, but the ability is there.
“Juventus are ready to sell him, so I think that’s a real possibility.
“I think that United and the potential buyers of Costa are aware of his problems with injuries, so I think that getting the player on loan with a clause to buy him is something more probable.
“I think on the other side that Juventus can’t wait to get rid of his wages because they have so many players, and they want to get rid of some big wages.
“That’s why I think that loaning the player is something possible.”
