Kai Havertz: Frank Lampard 'desperate' to sign player says expert
Chelsea could make up to six big signings by the time the summer transfer window slams shut in October. The Blues have been quick out of the blocks having already concluded deals for Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner.
Chelsea are determined to build on their encouraging maiden campaign under the guidance of Frank Lampard, who masterminded a fourth-place finish in the Premier League, despite last summer's transfer ban and the departure of Eden Hazard to Real Madrid.
The money from the sale of Hazard has been spent on deals for Ziyech and Werner, which were signed, sealed and delivered before the summer transfer window opened last Saturday.
Chelsea already have their third signing in their sights in the form of Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Kai Havertz.
A fee has yet to be agreed between the two clubs but it is thought personal terms are already sorted in principle.

Chelsea are also planning to turn their attention to strengthening the team's Achilles heel - their backline.
A new goalkeeper has climbed the agenda amid mounting concerns over Kepa Arrizabalaga's form.
The likes of Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak, Andre Onana of Ajax and Manchester United prospect Dean Henderson have been linked with moves to Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea will likely have to get Arrizabalaga off their books before committing to a new No 1, however.

According to ESPN, Chelsea chiefs are also considering whether to sign a centre-back.
It is low on the priority list for the Blues, despite having the worst defensive record in the top 10 of the Premier League.
Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Fikayo Tomori and Kurt Zouma are already at Lampard's disposal but one would likely be sold if a big-money addition such as Jose Gimenez was to be acquired.
