Timo Werner trains in blank kit but set for dream shirt number at Chelsea after key exit
Timo Werner has taken part in his first Chelsea training session since joining from RB Leipzig.
Timo Werner: Lampard says he’s ‘excited’ to work with player
Timo Werner wore plain Chelsea training gear during his first session with Blues coaches at the club's Cobham base, having completed his £53million move from RB Leipzig earlier this summer. However, the German international looks set to claim his favoured shirt number at Stamford Bridge following the exit of Pedro.
Werner is a headline arrival as part of Frank Lampard's squad overhaul at Chelsea this summer, with the 24-year-old joining on the back of a prolific season in the Bundesliga.
The striker scored 28 league goals this term and bagged 34 in 45 appearances across all competitions, convincing the Blues to trigger his release clause once it became apparent a move to Liverpool would not take place.

Werner is expected to come straight into the Chelsea starting XI, although he is not eligible to feature until the start of next season.
But the German ace can join up with Lampard's squad and has already taken part in his first Blues training session.

Werner was in attendance at Stamford Bridge on Sunday to watch his new team-mates secure a top-four finish and Champions League qualification with a 2-0 win over Wolves before getting out on the grass at Cobham on Monday.
The frontman was seen wearing plain Blue Chelsea training gear, with no number visible on his kit.
This is because Werner is expected to claim the No 11 shirt once Pedro departs at the end of his contract.
The Spaniard, who becomes a free agent this summer, came on for a late cameo appearance against Wolves and Lampard later confirmed it would be the 32-year-old's last Chelsea appearance.

Chelsea new boy Timo Werner backed to be big Blues success because of two key qualities
"Pedro has played his last game for the club," said the Blues boss.
"The lads have just pretty much serenaded him in the changing room and rightly so because of the career he has had generally and for this club.
"It was his last Premier League game, but the impact he has had here is huge. I want to say a big thanks to Peds and wish him well as he goes forward.
"He is here for the remainder of games, but a big player of the club leaves and the spirit of the club I saw afterwards was pretty special."

Once Pedro packs up and says his final goodbyes, potentially heading off to Roma, it is widely expected that Werner will claim the No 11 he wore at Leipzig.
Fellow new signing Hakim Ziyech is also yet to be awarded his new number at Chelsea, and there is more uncertainty over which one he will take with Mason Mount currently occupying the No 22 he wore at Ajax.
A breakthrough in Willian's contract talks also mean the Moroccan's preferred No 10 is no longer guaranteed to become available.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are making progress in their pursuit of Kai Havertz as negotiations continue with Bayer Leverkusen after personal terms had already been agreed with the 21-year-old.
