Clough luck for McCombe
Under-pressUre derby boss nigel Clough defended his tactics to fans in a radio phone-in last week.
And he might now call up Bristol City skipper Jamie McCombe to thank him for saving his job.
The visiting captain’s silly 56th-minute sending-off changed the game – and
derby eventually capitalised through Gary Teale five minutes from the end.
It ended a dire run of four straight defeats for the rams but Clough’s side can consider themselves very lucky.
Bristol played some good looking football and steven Bywater had to be at his best to keep out Alvaro saborio’s header.
Sub paul dickov and Lee Croft went close as the rams threw everything at the City defence.
But it did not look like being Clough’s day again – until Teale popped up.
