Man City: Guardiola confirms Sane ‘rejected’ contract offer
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has hinted the club won’t replace Leroy Sane this summer because ‘we have other priorities’. Guardiola admitted Sane had told the club he would not extend his contract and could leave this summer if Bayern Munich make an appropriate offer.
City are resigned to losing Sane eventually but could make him see out the final year of his contract if the German champions refuse to budge on a low ball offer.
And Guardiola admits he’s not thinking about replacements for the winger, and hinted he’s eyeing new recruits in other areas of his side.
He is also wary of the financial implications of the coronavirus.

“I don’t know that right now. The places I was, Barcelona, Bayern and here, when the club say we cannot afford it, we cannot afford it.
“But it depends on the people who stay. Maybe in the next two months the team make a step forward and we stay with the same people. I don’t know right now.”
On Sane’s future, Gurdiola insisted the future was not clear, but stressed he has options within his current squad who could fill the void.
He added: “First, Leroy is our player. I don’t know if he is going to leave this summer or the end of his contract.
“But we have enough good players up front. Gabriel can play on the left, Phil Foden can play on the left, we have Raheem there. We have big, talented players up front. Most of them are in good, healthy conditions, like Phil, Riyad, Gabriel, Raheem.
“They can play quite regularly for a long period of time, they are so stable in terms of injury situations.”

Guardiola also warned Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp they will be back fighting for the title next season.
Liverpool moved a point closer to the title last night with their draw at Everton, but still need two wins to seal it - unless City slip up this week against Burnley or Chelsea.
City then meet Liverpool a week Thursday in what could be the clinching game.
“In the last nine titles we’ve fought for, we’ve won eight so it’s not bad and I think next season we are going to do it again,” he said.
“Imagine being 14 points clear now from this United — it means there has not been much wrong in terms of points and performance.”
