Man Utd sent cautious Jadon Sancho transfer message as Borussia Dortmund make fee decision
Manchester United will likely have to pay a club-record fee to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.
Man Utd ‘most serious contender’ for Sancho signing says expert
Jadon Sancho fits the bill of what Manchester United need but Andy Townsend has urged caution on forking out a club-record fee to sign the talented 20-year-old. Sancho has emerged as one of the world's most exciting young footballers over the past few years having broken through at Borussia Dortmund.
The winger took the decision to leave Manchester City's youth set-up in 2017 to join Dortmund and he soon became a regular in the starting line up.
He has gone from strength-to-strength over the past two seasons, scoring 29 goals as well as providing 34 assists in just 64 Bundesliga matches.
That form, though, has seen some of Europe's biggest clubs circling over a potential transfer in the summer.
The coronavirus pandemic has affected some clubs financially, with reports suggesting United are the clear favourites to sign Sancho.

Dortmund are refusing to drop their valuation, however, meaning United will have to likely pay in excess of £100million.
United have struggled to find a regular starter on the right side of their front three over the past few years.
The position has been filled with some legendary names such as David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo and there is hope at Old Trafford that Sancho could become the latest to write his name in the history books.
But Townsend, who won the League Cup twice with Aston Villa, suggests there will always be some risk in paying out such a large sum on any footballer.

"United in their DNA have always had exciting wide players, pacy players in those areas and Jadon Sancho is certainly all of that," he said on Premier League productions.
"It will be very interesting to see whether or not someone is prepared to pay the sort of money [Dortmund want].
"It's a staggering amount of money for somebody who has actually played 100 games in his career.
"His return is decent with 36 goals from those wide areas but £130m or £140m is an incredible sum of money to pay."
For now, United will be focused on the final nine games of the Premier League season.
They currently sit fifth in the table with Chelsea just three points ahead of them.
But there are a number of clubs similarly hoping to clinch a Champions League spot.
United are in action on Friday night when they take on Jose Mourinho's Tottenham side.
