Tottenham hero backs club to close seven-point gap and finish above Chelsea for one reason
Tottenham can benefit from "strange results" and catch rivals Chelsea, reckons Paul Robinson.
Tottenham: Mourinho may not be able to buy players says pundit
Tottenham can qualify for the Champions League this season, according to former Spurs goalkeeper Paul Robinson. Jose Mourinho's side were seven points behind London rivals Chelsea in fourth when football was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic in March. However, with the Premier League set to resume later this month, Robinson reckons Tottenham can benefit.
Mourinho is set to have the club's two top goalscorers this season - Harry Kane and Heung-min Son - available after their respective injuries.
Both Kane and Son were set to miss the majority of the remaining matches before the season was halted.
Robinson, who was part of Tottenham's last trophy success in 2008, expects strange results when the English top flight does resume, especially with matches being played behind closed doors.
And he can see no reason why Tottenham cannot catch Chelsea and finish in the top four.

"They are relying on other teams dropping points but we are in unprecedented times where the home advantage has disappeared,” Robinson told Football Insider.
“I think we will see some strange results and some results that we were not expecting.
“I am very glad that the league will be played out but I am glad I am not a gambler between now and the end of the season because results will be very hard to predict!
“Tottenham are seven points off Chelsea but there is a real opportunity to close that gap.”'

Meanwhile, Tottenham have been linked with a move for Chelsea star Willian seven years after missing out on the Brazilian to the Blues.
Willian's contract at Chelsea is set to expire at the end of June and he is likely to leave the club on a free transfer.
But his agent, Kia Joorabchian, says there have been no discussions with Tottenham yet.
"At the moment, he's a Chelsea player," Joorabchian told Sky Sports.
"He has a contract with Chelsea until the season is over, so I think it is disrespectful to talk about him moving to other clubs.
"We have not spoken to Tottenham, or any other club, at the moment.
"Willian wanted to sign a three-year contract and then see where his career takes him. Chelsea's policy only allows two, so that's where the sticking block was.
"Chelsea have a policy, which we respect and understand, but Willian has a career and he has ambition. He wants to finish his playing career at a very high level."
