Premier League action has been suspended since March due to the coronavirus pandemic wreaking havoc across the globe.
Premier League: Season should be finished says pundit
Debate over how to complete the Premier League campaign amid the coronavirus crisis has raged ever since professional football in the United Kingdom was suspended in March. While the Premier League and EFL are attempting to get the 2019/20 campaign back up and running behind closed doors, a number of pundits have called for the whole thing to be curtailed or scrapped.
If Premier League chiefs were to admit defeat in their attempts to restart play, how could they determine outcomes?
Liverpool would expect to be awarded the Premier League title because of their massive lead over Manchester City but they remain agonisingly short of the finish line.
Due to the potential legal challenges, the idea of voiding the 2019/20 season has failed to get off the ground.
A final table based on a points-per-game ratio has been floated while others have called for the standings to be calculated on results at the halfway stage of the campaign.

Over in France, the Ligue 1 campaign has been curtailed, with the final table based on a points-per-game basis.
Before it was made official, L’Equipe cooked up a formula to attempt to offer a fair end to the season.
If a team has played an opponent once then the results stands but if they have played each other twice then the points are halved.
The Daily Mail have now taken the principles of the formula and roped in some boffins to calculate a final table - and it provides some interesting results!

The top eight would remain as it currently stands, which would see Liverpool pick up the Premier League title for the first time.
That also means Manchester United would win the race for fifth, which should be enough for Champions League football if City’s ban is upheld.
Arsenal would fall to 12th below Crystal Palace, Burnley and Newcastle, which would make it their worst finish since 1994-95.
Elsewhere, Bournemouth would drag themselves out of the relegation zone at Watford’s expense. Aston Villa and Norwich City would join the Hornets in dropping into the Championship.
