Manchester United's first-team squad arrived at Carrington for training on Monday morning in buoyant mood after doing the double over Manchester City - as a special guest made an appearance.
Man Utd players are a ‘privilege’ to have says Solskjaer
Manchester United’s first-team squad rocked up at Carrington for training on Monday in high spirits after beating Manchester City at Old Trafford the day before. The feel good factor at the club’s HQ was boosted by a surprise appearance from Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Old Trafford legend was spotted driving his Mercedes into the car park, with his wife Lady Ferguson accompanying him.
He was, no doubt, eager to congratulate the players for securing the club’s first double over their local rivals for the first time since the 2009/10 campaign - when Ferguson was in charge.
Anthony Martial and Scott McTominay netted either side of the half-time break at Old Trafford to boost the Red Devils’ hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
An inspired piece of thinking by Bruno Fernandes teed up Martial for the opener, although the home team had Ederson to thank for failing to stop the Frenchman’s relatively tame strike.

The happiest man, however, is likely to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
He was coming under increasing pressure before Christmas but a superb run of results has put his team right back into top-four contention - they are currently fifth in the table.
As it stands, a fifth-place finish will be enough to qualify for Europe’s elite club competition providing City’s two-year ban by UEFA stands.
Despite their current position potentially being good enough, Solskjaer has set his sights on reeling in teams higher in the table.

He said: “It's a massive win because Leicester and City, we have to look up and try to catch them.
“We can't afford to give points away too often, like last week against Everton, when it was there for us. Maybe we have made amends.”
Solskjaer added: ”It’s a privilege to have players like this. The desire and work-rate, that’s what I think the fans love about these players. To see the connections between the players, the team and the fans today - what an atmosphere.
“At the end, seeing everyone in the stands. You turn around and you see Sir Alex [Ferguson] up there, he is proud and it's a big moment for every one of us.“
