Ryan Fraser breaks silence on Arsenal transfer
Bournemouth star Ryan Fraser has spoken out about his proposed move to Arsenal last summer.
He was linked with a move to the Emirates after impressing for the Cherries last season, but has seen his form take a major dip this season.
Fraser admitted that the speculation affected him, and he vowed to work harder.
“It obviously affected me in the first four months of the season,” Fraser told BBC Solent. “I wasn’t myself and I didn’t play for the team, I’m honest enough to admit that.
“I look back at it and I spoke to my family about it, and it just looked bad on me. I didn’t help the team, so the last month or so I have been trying to put it right, and yes it shouldn’t have had to take me that long to realise, but I am my own worst critic and I apologise to the lads and that’s all I can do.”
Arsenal miss out on £17m star Guimaraes
Arsenal have missed the chance to sign 22-year-old midfielder Bruno Guimaraes from Brazilian side Athletico-PR.
The Gunners were linked with a move for Guimaraes this month, but he has instead signed for Lyon.
Lyon confirmed the £17m signing, with the Brazilian signing a four-and-a-half year contract.
A Lyon statement read: “Olympique Lyonnais is very pleased to announce the transfer of the captain of the Brazilian Olympic side, Bruno Guimaraes, for a fee in the amount of €20 million to which may be added a 20% sell-on fee.”
Arteta blocked Kurzawa transfer from PSG
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta stepped in to stop Arsenal from signing PSG defender Layvin Kurzawa, according to Paris United.
Arsenal were in advanced talks with PSG over a move for Kurzawa earlier this month.
Sporting director Edu had been pushing for the January move, but Arteta intervened.
Instead, the Gunners appear set to sign Southampton full-back Cedric Soares.
Arsenal close to second January deal
Mikel Arteta is close to agreeing a deal with Southampton for the signing of Cedric Soares, according to Sky Sports.
The Portugal international’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
Shares doesn’t have any plans to engage with the Saints in contract talks.
The Gunners are expected to confirm a loan deal for Soares until the end of the season, with the option to make the move permanent in the summer.
Dani Ceballos pushing for Arsenal exit
Dani Ceballos is still pushing for a move away from Arsenal, claimed The Athletic.
The Real Madrid loanee wants to leave north London over a lack of first-team football.
He’s also failed to receive clarity from Mikel Arteta over his playing time.
Ceballos is desperate to leave Arsenal to stake his claim for a spot in Spain’s Euro 2020 squad.
Barcelona make final decision on Aubameyang
Barcelona have decided not to pursue a transfer for Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to Sport.
The Catalans are keen to sign a new striker this month, and had targeted the Gunners star.
But, Barcelona decided to end their interest over fears they would be priced out of the deal.
Arsenal were expected to quote at least £50million for Aubameyang.
