Man Utd: Solskjaer ‘desperately’ needs signings says Ogden
Manchester United are leading the way to sign Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal, according to reports in Chile. The Red Devils have beat out competition from Inter Milan, who they’ve reportedly outbid, for the ex-Juventus man’s signature.
United spent £150million in the summer transfer window on Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Daniel James but they’ve all struggled to really impose themselves this season.
United lie fifth in the table, five points behind Chelsea, but the Red Devils have been inconsistent throughout the current campaign.
And they’ve even dealt a further blow by the fact that Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba, arguably their two best midfielders, are out of action with injuries.

Pogba’s future with the club is also hanging in the air, and he hasn’t played a full 90 minutes of football since September.
McTominay had to be taken off during United’s loss to Arsenal last week, leaving just Nemanja Matic and Fred as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s two main men in the middle of the park.
But according to DirecTV's De Futebol Se Habla Asi reporter Herman Chanampa in Chile, United are looking to buy Vidal to offset their midfield dilemma.

Chanampa also says that United’s relationship with Vidal’s camp is good as they worked together on Alexis Sanchez’s transfers to and away from Old Trafford.
Inter Milan are the other team that have bid for Vidal, but United’s is said to be higher and more appealing.
Vidal now has the option to either stay at Barca, go to Inter or think about a move to the Premier League with United, who have been linked with him before.
Vidal’s contract with Barcelona expires at the end of the season, having signed a one-year extension in the summer.
