Liverpool: Klopp says Minamino was ‘welcomed with open arms’
Gary Lineker was lost for words as his former side Everton were knocked out of the FA Cup by Merseyside rivals Liverpool at the third round stage on Sunday. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp made nine changes to his starting XI and named a number of youngsters to play against the Toffees. Carlo Ancelotti’s side created numerous chances in the first half but some poor finishing meant they were unable to take any of them.
The second half was a different story as Liverpool were the better side and won the game thanks to a stunning long-range strike from academy graduate Curtis Jones.
Lineker, who spent one successful season at Everton in the 1980s, was hosting the BBC's coverage of the match at Anfield.
And he did not know what to say to former Everton midfielder Leon Osman in the studio.
“Leon, I don’t know what to say really,” Lineker said.

“The goal that won it was one that you’d be proud of winning any match. Fantastic finish by Curtis Jones.”
Former England striker Alan Shearer wanted to praise Liverpool instead of criticising Everton’s shortcomings.
“Wow, absolutely magnificent Gary,” Shearer said.
“We’ll sit and we’ll criticise Everton for their performance but it has to be said, the reason why Everton were hopeless second half was because Liverpool did not allow them to play.

“They were better in possession, they were better out of possession, they looked more comfortable on the ball, they created more chances.
“The youngsters looked as if they were the experienced professionals and been around for years when it should have been the other way around.
“Well done Jurgen Klopp and well done Liverpool, what an afternoon for those youngsters.”
