Man City star Aymeric Laporte sends Liverpool warning over title race - ‘I believe’
Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte has sent Liverpool a warning in the Premier League title race, insisting that Pep Guardiola’s side aren’t out of the running to win a third consecutive league title, despite the 11-point gap between the two clubs.
Man City: Laporte's injury gives Liverpool 'the edge' say pundits
Manchester City star Aymeric Laporte has backed the Citizens to continue fighting for the Premier League title. Pep Guardiola’s side are now 11 points behind league leaders Liverpool, but Laporte still believes that City can beat their rivals to the trophy.
City dropped two more points on Saturday in the league, by drawing against Newcastle at St James’ Park.
The draw gave Liverpool even more motivation to secure three points against Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield, which they eventually managed to do despite a nervy finale.
Laporte has backed his team-mates to come back fighting, despite the latest setback.
He still thinks the club can win a number of trophies this season, but he admitted that they can’t afford to lose any more games.

Liverpool had the chance to go 10 points clear of City at the top of the table in January, last season.
But, the Reds lost 2-1 against the champions at the Etihad Stadium, and the gap was cut to four points instead.
Jurgen Klopp’s side continued to drop points over the coming months, which handed City the incentive to go on and win the title.
If the Citizens are to go on and mount a serious challenge to Liverpool’s grip at the top of the table, they’ll be heavily relying on star centre-back Laporte once he returns to fitness.
